Typical Sunday

Today has been a typical Sunday for us. We went to worship and Sunday School, had some lunch at our current favorite Mexican food place (La Bamba) and then came home to look through the paper, relax, and take a cat nap. In a few minutes we'll be headed to Kroger to pick up some groceries, and then I'll fire up the grill to heat up some hot sausages for dinner. It is good to have a day like today that is not filled with hurrying to an activity or working on something for Monday morning.

It is doubly nice since I flew in late Friday and did not get home from the airport until almost 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. I was able to sleep in on Saturday, but then we had volunteered to help out with the Block Party that Fairmount was hosting at nearby elementary school, so we had to drive up to Mechanicsville and work out in the sun (high in the upper 90s) for a couple of hours. The free food and the music were good, so it was definitely a good experience, and there were a lot of people from the community there. But it is also nice to have a day like today to unwind.

Next weekend is Labor Day, so our current plans are to drive down to North Carolina to visit my dad and step-mom for a couple of days. Susan will find a sub for her class, and we'll drive back Monday afternoon.
